Alexander traded dairy commodities for 7 years before finding his love in the dairy intelligence business. He founded the company back in 2018, thinks of himself as the Godfather (his favourite movie) but is more of a sensitive soul. He has a lot on his hands these days, juggling between his newborn daughter and training for Mario Kart (...which is much needed!).
To be the company our customers want us to be, it takes an eclectic group passionate about commodity intelligence.
Get to know the people leading the way at Vesper.
Wouter has come to Vesper to “help us grow”, after learning the finer points of business building during eight years of management consulting. Don’t let the corporate history deceive you: he is well-versed in anything fantasy, classical literature, Marvel and Star Wars related. He likes to spend his time left to him outside of Vesper, next to looking after his two young kids, on reading, running, fine dining or simply playing on his Playstation.
Wouter is a tech wizard that transforms Vesper's biggest dreams into beautiful code. His software architecture is of a quality da Vinci could only dream of. Our CTO enjoys the finer things in life including his friends a nice beer and of course chicken (which may explain his favourite cookbook; 50 shades of chicken).
Youp is our Product Owner. If you have any feedback, he will make sure it’s implemented. He goes by many names, depending on the time of day; Mr Worldwide (when he’s reminiscing his South America escapades), Big Boss (when he’s playing Mario Kart) and the infamous Jaapie (his alter ego who comes out after a few beers, and has a life of his own!)
Seb’s life in a nutshell: Vesper → golf. You can find him 5 days a week in the office and 6 days a week on the golf course. With his French and Dutch nationalities, but feeling Irish inside, Seb is often lost when it comes to choosing a country. If you wish to challenge him in an all you can eat wings challenge (34 wings), send him a message.
Hailing all the way from the rolling green hills of New Zealand, our kiwi recruit is Vespers’ Head of Customer Success (for a flightless bird, she sure is a long way from home). Coming from a farming background, she enjoys the simple things in life including red wine and a good book. Georgia loves to chat and meet new people - she’ll make sure you’re a Vesper guru in no time.
Karel is one of our sales tigers. If he’s not traveling the world, you’ll find him exploring the canals of Amsterdam on his boat. He likes golfing, trading and selling - no wonder his favourite movie is the Wolf of Wall Street.
Daan is one of our sales superstars. He’s from the Netherlands, but grew up in Cape Town, Abu Dhabi, Barcelona, Addis Abeba and Trinidad. Daan started his own baguette company back in his high school days.. this guy could sell anything, even ice to an eskimo!
Our Head of Data Science is Amsterdam’s biggest fan (all the pros of a city but still feels like a village). If you’re looking for a bite to eat in Amsterdam, Ea is your go to girl. When she’s not looking into different AI models, she’s probably booking her next holiday or organising dinners with friends.
Robin is one of our forecasting guru’s! If he’s not busy trying to predict the future (of dairy), you’ll find him behind a camera. Don’t be fooled, he may be firmly focussed on the future (of dairy) but he’s a sucker for ancient history.
Pim is part of the Vesper development team. He’s a busy guy who enjoys playing the piano, photography and the outdoors. If he’s not busy coding, you might find him working on a city farm or kicking back watching a classic movie with a glass of anisemilk.
Olivier plays an integral part in the Vesper development team. Born and raised in Amsterdam, he has a complicated relationship with sports including a love for snowboarding (funny choice, since he lives in the lowest country in the world), he also plays basketball (probably the shortest player to ever do it). His housemates call him the Bat, because he works at night, sleeps during the day and eats bugs for breakfast (programming joke).
Louis joined Vesper as a Computational Scientist. Don’t be fooled by his profession, when he is not busy behind his computer, he is enjoying running or practising self-defence. His favourite quote "comfort zone is a beautiful space but nothing ever grows there”. Being partially French it may be surprising to learn his favourite dairy product is Mozzarella di bufala.
It’s like Bas was supposed to be born on one of the pacific islands. He loves to swim, surf, spearfish, and drink coconut juice straight from the coconut. Besides his islander characteristics, he bears a striking resemblance to a specific dog species, namely: the labrador. Not only his blonde locks give him away, but also his loyal and kind character.
While completing his masters in Computational Science at the University of Amsterdam, Hildebert joined Vesper as a Data Scientist. He now loves the Netherlands but in all his Frenchness finds the lack of cheese diversity disappointing and decided that working in a dairy-centered company would help fill that gap in his heart.
Martijn is from Gouda in the Netherlands, but he never really liked biking until he moved to Amsterdam. His hobbies are kitesurfing and hockey. His current kite jump record is 17m high, but he wants to achieve 20m this year. His parents live in Haarlem and every time he is visiting, he will go to his favorite place Jamon Jamon and order a sandwich ''hete kip with aioli'' and a cold glass of milk.
Instead of working out, Megan get’s her adrenaline kicks from a good bargain - being an addicted thrift shopper, you can find her at least once a month at the Ijhallen (the biggest flea market in Europe). She may be known for her thriftiness, but don’t be fooled, she owns a foot of land in Scotland and holds a title as Lady Megan.
Four years ago Thomas made the resolution to always stay fit! Since then he lives off of water and yoghurt and has run the Dam tot Damloop every single year (an annual road running competition held in Amsterdam). Being born and raised in Amsterdam, no matter how far he runs he always comes back. Besides running, Thomas likes tinkering with electronics at home, he even made his own magic mirror!
Tjarco is our mobile app expert, making sure you’ll have the latest data in your pocket. When he is not dreaming about code, he likes to have dinner with friends, drink beers (especially beers that are brewed in Amsterdam) in the park, play board games or go for a bike ride. Born and raised in Heerhugowaard, he found love for Amsterdam during his student times while being active at his student association.
Meet Captain Thomas, a.k.a. Thomas the Tank, one of our data analysts. You can spot him on a sunny day, sailing through the canals on his new sail boat. On the boat with him: a batch of his Mum’s beef stew, a good bottle of Meursault Burgundy and probably a life-time supply of Smint peppermints, since he is addicted to them.
Philippe is one of our forecasting visionaries (get it?). Growing up in Luxembourg with Portuguese blood allowed him to learn to speak 5 languages fluently. When he does not have a guitar on his lap, Philippe is either eating, working those models for Vesper or working towards his Master’s degree in Computational Science.
Bulgarian girl Kristina left the beautiful mountains four years ago and ended up in the Netherlands. With the lack of mountains, she instead focused on her biking skills and exploring different music genres, so don’t be surprised if you spot her dancing in the rain at some festival. Last year she challenged herself out of her comfort zone called Architecture, and took a dive into the magical world of Mobile App Development, because it is never too late to learn something new!
In 2021 Hendrik relocated from South Africa to join us in Amsterdam. His grandfather grew up just around the corner in Oostzaan, so he has returned to his roots. Hendrik has dedicated himself to researching the hops commodity market for over a decade in preparation for his journey at Vesper. He is always ready for a table-tennis challenge and not competitive at all!
Meet one of our Data Scientists Tugce, born and raised in Istanbul. Regardless of the fact that Istanbul is a beautiful city, she moved to Amsterdam to escape all of the traffic. Here she likes to relax, drink tea and attend to her hobbies: dancing, playing volleyball and watching the Friends series for the 7th time in a row!
Meet our one and only wine dealer Bastien. If he’s not recruiting new talent, he is recruiting high quality bottles of wine from his French connections. Born and raised in Marseille, France he came all the way to the rainy Netherlands. Some might wonder why in God's name? Well, he moved here for an internship and fell in love with Amsterdam. He loves how lively and busy the city is on a Friday evening right after the "vrijdagborrel".
Noah came to Amsterdam to study Econometrics and Artificial Intelligence. One of his favorite things about Amsterdam is the great food you can find throughout the city. On the weekends you can often find him trying one of the new fancy restaurants. But don’t worry, Noah is easy to please, just give him a pasta carbonara and a typical Dutch drink called Fristi, and he is as happy as a clam. Challenging Noah to a party trick? No way you’ll win, he can lick his elbow!
Meet one of our Frenchies Benjamin! Controversially, he doesn’t like wine but like a true Frenchman, makes up for it with his love for cheese. To let us taste a bit of his culture in a different way, he makes us drink Pastis every Friday, a drink most popular in the southern sun-drenched parts of France where Benjamin was born. As energetic as he can be in the office, he also likes to relax, he actually travelled all the way to Nepal to meditate in a silent retreat.
You can consider Teun a real dairy person. Every morning, after consuming his beloved low-fat yogurt, he happily heads to Amsterdam to join Vesper. He travels daily from the 'Domstad' where he was born and raised and where he still lives with great pleasure. Here he can escape the hustle and bustle of Amsterdam. Besides eating low-fat yogurt, he greatly enjoys a fresh cheese fondue with a bottle of wine and omelets with skimmed milk.
Meet the real millennial of the pack: from listening to podcasts, to eating sushi and drinking matcha latte with oat milk. Stijn is a real foodie and is your go to guy for the newest Asian restaurants in Amsterdam. For a Dutch person he developed a multicultural palette from his time in Tokyo and his Indonesian roots.
Meet one of our Customer Success Managers Jule, born and raised in The Black Forest, Germany. Making customers happy is what makes Jule tick. She even used to work at Germany’s largest theme park (and could often be found on a rollercoaster during lunchtime). Jule loves food in the form of cooking, baking, going out for breakfast, lunch & dinner - but none of this matches her favourite food of all, her Dad’s pancakes (awww!).
Meet our sports fanatic Jasper. Interested in the latest game scores? Doesn’t matter which sport it is, ask Jasper and he’ll know! From watching sports to playing sports himself, his world revolves around them. It wouldn’t surprise you that Jasper likes to bike from Haarlem to Amsterdam for work every day on his mountain bike.
It’s not a coincidence that Adam discovered and loves Eastern European cinema, since he was born and raised in Warsaw, Poland. Besides watching movies he fills his spare time with going to museums. He even paints himself from time to time, yet calling him the next Bob Ross is a bit premature. This guy loves bananas; he can eat any amount of bananas without even realizing how much he ate.
Having a senior purser as a father, Sibrand was lucky enough to have travelled the world before he started working at Vesper. This has led him to tell the most random stories at our dinner parties. They are never dull - he even puts in his own sound effects when telling them.
Tom is one of our developers. Besides his love for programming he is a very outdoorsy guy! He enjoys being near the water: he was born and raised not far from the beach and competes in rowing competitions, but ironically enough hates the feeling of cold water!
Felix is a Computer Science student living in the most beautiful city in the Netherlands: Utrecht (he wrote this by himself). He plays a lot of tennis, hates burpees, falls over his own feet sometimes and likes to go out with his friends till the early morning.
